37th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Operative Dentistry 20-22 February 2008 Fairmont Hotel, Chicago, IL

The Academy of Operative Dentistry's 37th Annual Meeting once again offers an incredible group of essayists, an outstanding table clinic session and a wonderful social program. Please plan on joining your colleagues and fellow academy members at this always educational and entertaining event in downtown Chicago.

Please register for this meeting no later than January 28th (and preferably earlier) and help the Academy fill our room block by staying at the Fairmont Hotel. This is essential to the success of our meeting and helps us maintain the most advantageous meeting fee structure for our members.

Remember, the Academy of Operative Dentistry is an ADA-CERP-recognized provider, and attendees at the 2008 meeting will be awarded 12 hours of continuing education by the Academy. A certificate to that effect will be provided to each registrant at the conclusion of the meeting.

Scientific Session: Thursday's lineup begins in the Imperial Ballroom with Dr Terry Donovan presenting the Richard V Tucker Lecture of Excellence, “Factors Related to the Longevity of the Tooth/Restoration Complex.” Dr Marcos Vargas follows with “Imperceptible Anterior Direct Resin Composite Restorations.” The 27th Buonocore Memorial Lecture, “Placing Dental Composites—A Stressful Experience,” will be presented by Dr Jack Ferracane. The highlight of Thursday's luncheon will be the presentation of the Hollenback Memorial Prize to Dr Mathilde “Tilly” Peters. Thursday afternoon features Dr Nigel Pitts presenting “Modern Management of the Caries Lesion,” followed by Dr Nasser Barghi with a topic of great interest to both dentists and patients, “Veneers: Failures and Successes.” Finally, Dr Marc B Cooper will close Thursday's program with his thoughts on “Communicating Excellence.”

The always-popular Dr Gordon Christensen leads off on Friday morning with a two-hour presentation on “Major Shifts in Clinical Dentistry and Changes in Dental Ethics.” The essay sessions conclude with Dr Steve Schmitt speaking on “Virtual Dentistry.” Friday's luncheon will be held in the Mid-America Club and features the presentation of the Academy's Award of Excellence to Dr William A Gregory. The 2008 annual session will conclude with 36 informative table clinics presented on Friday afternoon. These are always concise, focused presentations that provide a wealth of “pearls” for us to take back to our offices.

Reception: Finally, our Gala Reception on Thursday evening will once again provide a wonderful, once-a-year platform for socializing with all our friends and colleagues from across the country and around the world. Plan to join us in the International Ballroom at 6:30 P.M.

Please do not miss this fantastic opportunity for education, information exchange and fun. See you in Chicago in February. For more meeting information, contact Dr Gregory Smith, PO Box 14996, Gainesville, FL 32604-2996, USA; Fax: (352) 371-4882; e-mail: greg679@cox.net.
