Chair, Comprehensive Dentistry and Dental Biomaterials School of Dentistry Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans, LA
The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) School of Dentistry at New Orleans seeks nominations and applications for the position of chair, Comprehensive Dentistry and Dental Biomaterials, a full-time tenure track position. This position reports to the dean of the School of Dentistry and has the responsibility of administration, implementation and coordination of the clinical curriculum for the Comprehensive Dentistry program and the General Practice Residency postdoctoral program. The Department, through the Division of Clinical Research, is responsible for mentorship of undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty members in their clinical research endeavors. In addition, the Department, through the Division of Community-Based Services, will be responsible for development, implementation, coordination and calibration related to planned community-based educational and clinical experiences.
Candidates must possess highly developed academic leadership capabilities, outstanding academic credentials and an established record of scholarly productivity. A DDS or DMD is required. An established history of scholarly activity, familiarity with general dentistry and an advanced degree are highly desirable. Applicants should have demonstrated knowledge of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action. The candidate must have significant higher education administrative and leadership experience to include interdisciplinary or interdepartmental work and a variety of teaching methods or curricular perspectives. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
Louisiana State University School of Dentistry was founded in 1968 and is the only dental school in the state. It is located in the City Park area of New Orleans, Louisiana, on a 23-acre campus. The School of Dentistry is one of six schools comprising the University's Health Sciences Center. It is staffed by more than 130 full- and part-time faculty and serves approximately 350 students in pre-doctoral and graduate training programs representing dentistry, dental hygiene, dental laboratory technology and all of the dental specialties.
