Full-Time Non-Tenure Track Faculty Position UCLA School of Dentistry

The UCLA School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the level of Health Sciences Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor in the Section of Restorative Dentistry, Division of Constitutive and Regenerative Sciences. This position is available starting January 1, 2016, and the search will remain open until the position is filled.

Primary responsibilities of the position include teaching in the Section of Restorative Dentistry, which includes but is not limited to the predoctoral curriculum at both clinical and preclinical levels. Background or expertise in esthetic dentistry as well as strong records of clinical teaching are preferred, but not required.

Applicants must possess a DDS or equivalent degree from the CODA-approved dental school; and/or a certificate in Prosthodontics from a CODA approved program. Applicants must possess or be eligible for a California dental license. An opportunity for part-time intramural clinical practice will be available. Demonstration of commitment to innovative, scholarly research, teaching excellence, and outstanding patient care is highly desirable, as well as demonstration or likely commitment to diversity-related teaching/research/service. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor (HS), Assistant or Associate Professor (HS)

The Department of Restorative Dentistry, School of Dental Medicine at the University at Buffalo is seeking applicants for multiple positions in Operative Dentistry and/or in Prosthodontics. Positions are full-time, clinical or tenure-track.

Must have for all positions: (1) D.D.S. or D.M.D. or equivalent degree, (2) eligibility for licensure in NYS and (3) teaching and clinical experience. Must have for the prosthodontist position: (1) a certificate from an ADA accredited advanced program in prosthodontics at the time of employment, (2) training in implant dentistry and (3) board certification or serious intent toward board certification in Prosthodontics. For tenure track: evidence of scholarly activity and an established independent research program. An MS degree or higher preferred for all positions.

Salary and rank are commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. A faculty practice opportunity is available for NYS licensed individuals.

Director of Biomaterials

Faculty Position F39220

VCU School of Dentistry, Department of General Practice

Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry is seeking a full-time faculty member in the Department of General Practice to serve as the Director of Biomaterials. This faculty position will focus on the biomaterials used in laboratory teaching and in the clinics. Teaching will occur in an integrated curriculum system that includes baccalaureate, graduate, and professional education, and in multidisciplinary teams that cross traditional departmental lines. Teaching responsibilities may include clinical and didactic teaching, course directorship, curriculum development, student mentoring, and development of self-directed and distance learning coursework. Other responsibilities will include research and scholarly activity.

Faculty members are expected to foster transformative learning informed by interdisciplinary and translational research, teaching methodology, scholarship, and creative expression. Candidates must demonstrate ability to teach dental biomaterials, incorporating adult learning theory, evidence-based oral health care, innovation in student learning, and critical thinking. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to contribute to and participate in a humanistic environment of learning, as well as to adapt to change and embrace modern technologies.

Required qualifications include: DDS/DMD degree, strong leadership skills, and documented experience in the areas of dental practice or clinical teaching.

Preferred qualifications include: advanced degree (MS or PhD) in engineering or a related science, eligibility for licensure in Virginia, experience in preclinical and clinical skills development. The ideal candidate will have experience in dental biomaterials research; teaching dental materials; and interfacing with clinical and research faculty, residents, and students in the development, execution and publication of research projects. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
